Questions, answered kindly
Everything you might want to know before reaching out. Still curious about something? Just ask.
How do I book a session?
Whichever way feels easiest: DM @yourkindtherapist on Instagram, email yourkindtherapist@gmail.com, or use the contact form on the Contact page. I'll get back to you to find a time that works.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you'd like to be different, and any questions you have. There's no pressure to share everything at once, because we go at your pace.
Are sessions online or in person?
All sessions are currently online, over secure video call. This means you can join from wherever you feel safe and comfortable, whether that is home, a parked car, or any private space.
How long is each session, and how often do we meet?
Sessions last about 45-60 minutes. Most people start with weekly sessions, but frequency is something we decide together based on what you need.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in session stays between us, within the ethical limits of psychological practice (for example, if there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else). These limits are explained clearly in the first session, so there are no surprises.
Do you work with teenagers?
Yes, I work with adolescents as well as adults. For clients under 18, a parent or guardian's consent is required, but the sessions themselves remain a private, judgement-free space for the teen.
I've never done therapy before. Is that okay?
It is more than okay. Many of my clients are starting therapy for the first time. You don't need the 'right' words, a diagnosis, or a crisis to begin. If something feels heavy or stuck, that's reason enough.
What approaches do you use?
I work eclectically, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy, blended around what suits you rather than fitting you to a method.
What if I need urgent help?
Therapy isn't a substitute for emergency care. If you're in immediate crisis, please call Tele-MANAS at 14416 (India, 24×7, multiple languages) or KIRAN at 1800-599-0019, or go to your nearest hospital.
Didn't find your answer?
No question is too small. Send a message and I'll get back to you personally.
